Take the Next Steps for ICD-10

Written by The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services

The CMS has released an informative toolkit for providers on assessing and maintaining their progress with ICD-10. The toolkit provides tips and resources for providers to assess their progress, address their findings and troubleshoot any issues, and maintain their progress with ICD-10. A key tip in the toolkit was for providers to identify the key KPIs to track that are relevant and worth tracking. Tracking KPIs separately by the payer can help providers identify root causes for some issues that they may have experienced. Also, the CMS advised that providers create a feedback system for obtaining feedback and questions on ICD-10 from their staff, a key component for tracking progress and for finding solutions.
